And this is news to any Russian babushka how? They have been doing this for hundreds of years but in America, it takes a crack team of scientists to come to the same conclusion. Soon, look out for some research that would determine the usefulness of mustard plaster and “banki.”

Well, “banki” are these empty glass containers into which a burning swab of cotton on a stick soaked in alcohol is placed. By quickly removing the swab, vacuum is created and the “banki” are placed quickly on a sick person’s back. Supposedly, the procedure induces the flow of blood to the back thus producing a healing effect. Good old Russian technique, stolen, undoubtedly, from the Chinese. The photo shows a “banki”-savaged back and “medallions” left when the “banki” are removed.
